Why not? :rolleyes:

First is the learning phase and this would not even cost an arm and a leg. RadioShack US even has a tutorial CD and may be downloadable by this time.

Anyhow, here's a couple to practise on:

Robotic Arm (http://livesciencestore.com/57954.html)

The arm provides the basics, i.e., it gives a good idea onbasic robotic sensing locomotion principles testing your motor skills
The arm can be commanded with it's five-switch, wired controller with corresponding lights tograb
release
lift
lower
rotate wrist
pilot sideways 350 degrees
observe the dynamics of gear mechanisms through the transparent Arm

Specifications:

* Five Axes of motion:
* Base Right / Left 350 degrees
* Shoulder 120 degrees
* Elbow 135 degrees
* Wrist rotate CW & CCW 340 degrees
* Gripper Open & Close 50 mm (2 in)
* Maximum lifting capacity: 4.6 oz
* Product Dimensions:
o Max Length Outwards = 360 mm (14.2 in)
o Max Height Upwards = 510 mm (20.1 in)
o Max Lifting Capability = 130g (4.6 oz.)
o Control Box - 5 switch controller

Warning: Keep the robotic arm away from its controls. :D:D`

[Medyo bitin ang gripper ah - I need at least 2-3 inches to hand me a beer can]

=====

If you want something more mobile and fun (more to annoy people or pets :rolleyes:), try the creepy Hydrazoid Robot Kit (http://livesciencestore.com/57955.html) that moves forward for 15 secs at the clap of your hands, call it by a name or scream.

http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-45526219634643_1984_1154804

Specifications:
* Requires 2 AA batteries (not included)
* Requires common tools (cutting pliers, small hammer, long nose pliers and small Phillips screwdriver)
* Movement: Four legs driven by DC motor
* Control: Sound sensor including condenser microphone
* Dimensions: 7.8" high x 5.0" wide x 6.2" long

Warning: Whisper to avoid unnecessary movements. :D:D

========

Then, graduate from the self-study with the Robotix 5000 Robot Commander (http://livesciencestore.com/57935.html), 5-foot high and "TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"

http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-45526219634643_1984_8259441

The Robot Commander can:wave his hand
opens and closes his mouth
the visor above his eyes moves up and down
And here's the best part - it is upgradeable. It comes with additional instructions on how to add more parts for a robot though some parts cannot be ordered (as yet) for being so frightening of what one's imagination may lead to. :rolleyes:

Specifications:
* Over 400 building-kit pieces
* Special instructions for adding components to give the Robot Commander even more cool features

[I wonder how it will move on uneven terrain? RadioShack-RP then offered a 3-ft robot that had tractor feet. Well, if Robotix 5000 can wave its hands, I am sure it can be programmed to squeeze triggers :D:D, then cover it with a BDU ]
