if you still want the rubbery feel of your bar10. i highly recommend "color bond" refinisher. colors leather, plastic, vinyl, etc. without affecting the natural feel of the material. it's used for various car estoration projects in the states. you can look it up on the web.
i've personally used it on my scooter seat & it never lost its texture nor pliancy. it's been subjected to the over a year in the sun and rain and it hasn't even faded/peeled. kinda pricey at around P1,000+/can but nothing comes close. it may sound too good to be true but it's proven itself with me.
fyi, normal vinyl bumper doesn't cut it because you lose the feel, texture and longevity.
what color will you be painting it by the way?
tnx

I've been thinking of doing something similar to my Bar10. At P1k per can times 3 different shades = P3k. Hmmm, suddenly the option of having a pro do it seems more appealing :)
Please keep us updated with pictures if ever you decide to do it. Good luck!

guys, it's definitely not the only option. it was just the option with regards to keeping the original feel of the rubbery coating.
a cheaper alternative is to use custom mixed bumper paint. basically it's regular acrylic or urethane paint with a "flexifiers" mixed in. this is what they use for abs/plastic car bumpers. it won't be as pliant as the P1,000 color bond paint but at least it won't chip off like ordinary paint and of course, cheaper. after mixing, the paint will be pressurized in a can with a regular sprayer nozzle on top. you just sshake and pray as you wish. cost is about P350 per can. yes you can have the paint shop mix up the colors you want. either choose from a color chart or mix them up to your taste. of course, you'll also need primer with the flexifier mixed in also to make sure the color coats stay put.
hope this helps.

that sounds ok to but as far as i know standard paints cause the rubber to dry up and break of the paint chiping is not the problem for me its the rubbber drying up because of the paint
but i am also going to look for some shops that can paint it for me i am sure they have costumers who also asked for the same so maybe they have a color bond paint service that way i dont have to pay 3000-4000 for paint which i will only once and i wont use more than mybe 1/8 of the can

blue helmet,
if you're interested in the color bond paints, you can try visiting
"xenon- bulbs", the exclusive distributor here, along araneta avenue.
below is what i copied from their website:
Features & Benefits:
* COLORBOND penetrates the surface of leather, vinyl, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, polyurethane, lexan, thermal plastic urethane, metal, and (TPO) polypropylene, and forms a molecular bond that restores or changes the color permanently.
* COLORBOND is dry to the touch in 45 seconds and bonds within 10 minutes. The vehicle can be used within minutes of application.
* COLORBOND will not crack, flake, or peel.
* The grain simulation is never altered or hidden, no matter how many times COLORBOND is applied.
* The suppleness or "hand" is never affected and does not become stiff or brittle.
* A base and tinting system is available so an OEM color match is achieved each and every time.
* COLORBOND is easy to use. In many cases COLORBOND is a one step process.
* COLORBOND is UV stable.
* COLORBOND can be used on dash panels, seats, instrument panels, steering wheels, airbag covers, convertible tops, mirrors, and exterior trim. Virtually any where on a car or boat.
* COLORBOND is OEM approved and used by The Ford Motor Company.
no, i have no business interest in this product. yes, i'm only sharing it's good qualites based on actual expereince with it.
i know it's pricey but it really works. my vinyl scooter seat wasn't just subjected to rain and uv; it was (and still is) compressed and relaxed daily from my riding. the color is still the same and the vinyl is still supple.
by the way, it doesn't act like paint and is specifically for vinyl, rubber, plastic, leather. it's so specific to these materials such that it refuses to bond to cloth/fabric; only to the synthetic materials specified. ordinary paints like urethane & acrylic harden the surface. this doesn't. pm me if you need other help with this
