Maybe it's my age showing, but with all the crouching, kneeling, peeking, running, sprinting, jumping, and general physical demands of the game, does it ever "get" you?

Three times now in the last 4 months' I've suffered upper thigh injury, almost like a knotted muscle, especially after a short sprint. Also, the constant crouching by cover creates additional stress. If I remember to do some basic warm ups, the injury doesn't occur, or at least it seems that way!

What are your thoughts or suggestions on this? Do you rigourously warm up first? :icon_confused:

Do it like Pacquiao does... take Alaxan! :)

But seriously, some form of warmup exercises i think is necessary. Just like in any physical activity, the warmup and cooldown is important to prevent injuries from happening. It's also good to note that it is best to have other forms of exercise like running, biking, or hiking in your offdays to keep fit.

Stay healthy!

Hehehe. Seriously, stretch before and after the game, hindi pwede yung sa umpisa lang ang stretching. It's the common mistake of everyone. By doing this it will relax your muscles. Also try to lessen your load, alisin yung mga burloloy lang.

Stretching siguro. Ganyan din ginagawa namin noon ng CO namin before ROTC. Proud to say wala sa company namin na pinupulikat or sunstroke.

when you warm up do the full range of movement for example if you will be doing a lot lower body work squats and lunges then at the end of the game do exactly the same thing with your warm up but this time hold the stretch for 10 to 15 secs. There are more thing you have to do but you get the point keep your self hydrated through out the game and after the game keep your fluid level up.

you really need to do stretching and low/upper extensions to prepare your muscles before playing. Afterwards, lifting a light beer (san mag lights) will rehydrate your body and relax your muscles, as well as your mind, and reaching the tanpuluts with fork on hand will help re-stretch your muscles again.****!:icon_lol:

It's like ur gonna do ur 10 minute warm up jog at the treadmill. stretch first. :) Then stretch when cooling down and after u stripped ur heavy gears off.

but honestly sometimes nakakalimutan ko un gawin sa sobrang adik na adik ng maglaro. hehe.. Stiffening of the legs, lower back and cramps sometimes happen when playing airsoft. maybe because ur doing duckwalks, very low bending while peeking and crawling and running short sprints just to avoid the rainfall of bbs. :)

oh and i almost forgot to add, airsoft wargaming is a TOTAL BODY WORKOUT. from ur upper body down to ur lower body, even mentally. When i was into weightlifting, before i do my session i always stretch my guts out to avoid injury, and to loosen the muscles specially if im lifting heavy. and after i rip my soul off, while cooling down i stretch again my muscles to relax the affected muscle groups. kumbaga, pagktapos mo bugbugin, eh suyuin mo naman pgkatapos. :)

Maybe a warm shower before the warm up would help? or iwas aircon sa kotse before going to the site? i dunno really but that's what I did.

in my case, my warm ups were done in the game itself.. I never take the 1st and 2nd games of the day seriously.. just a little light jogging here and there.. crouch up and down to avoid getting hit from afar etc etc
when I feel that my body has already lossened up then that's when I get serious

Speaking as a sports scientist I have to disagree...It's been scientifically proven that stretching before an activity will do little in contributing to your warm-ups since your muscles are still cold and lack elasticity at this point...kaya...sa umpisa palang ng game mag beer ka na para medyo uminit ang katawan hehehe...tsaka ka mag-stretching...:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

But seriously speaking, muscle behaves like metal. It only gains elasticity when it is heated up. A good dynamic warm-up exercise like jogging or a light skirmish should do the trick and warm your body up.

By the way, it doesn't count as being warmed up just because your sweating due to the heat and all the gear your wearing. You are warmed up when you start sweating because of the movement that you are making.

Oh and on an even more serious note... parang di pa kayo nakakainom ng alak...di po ba by experience ihi kayo ng ihi pag marami kayong nainom na alak. Alcohol is a diuretic and can get you dehydrated more than you think.
Di naman po sa bawal... konting ingat lang po.

Like I always tell my students in badminton ( and this also applies to airsoft ), you don't get fit by playing badminton...you have to BE fit to play badminton. Competitive sports will, indeed, keep you active but are very physically demanding. That's why athletes do "conditioning exercises" to allow them to perform better in their "sport".

Conditioning exercises are activities such as strength or weight training, jogging, aerobics and brisk walking.

I know it's a lot to take in but as a teacher and a sports enthusiast and professional I feel it's my duty to share my knowledge for a safer and more enjoyable game.

I hope I have contributed something useful to the hobby I love so much.
